Asset and machine-readable identification

Durable asset and QR code tags for equipment identification.

Machine-readable identification works best when the code, destination, material, size, contrast, and scanning environment are considered together.

Plan the data before the tag

Tell us the code type, destination URL or data, numbering sequence, material, tag size, quantity, mounting method, and scanning environment. Every QR project should point to a permanent destination controlled by the customer.

  • Sequential numbering
  • QR and barcode project review
  • Human-readable text with machine-readable data
  • Equipment and fixed-asset identification
  • Customer-controlled permanent links

Approve before production

Code size and contrast affect scan performance. We recommend confirming the final content and testing the approved layout in the intended workflow before a full production run.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Useful answers before you quote.

Will engraved QR code tags keep scanning outdoors?

Engraved QR code tags avoid the peeling and ink loss that can affect printed labels, but no code scans reliably in every environment. Scan performance depends on material, contrast, code size, data density, lighting, abrasion, contamination, and the scanning device. Test the approved tag in the intended workflow before a full run.

Can EngraveQuick generate QR codes, or do we supply them?

Either approach can be reviewed. Supply the approved QR codes, or provide the customer-controlled permanent URLs or data that each code must contain. The customer remains responsible for the destination and final data approval.

What size should a QR code be for reliable scanning?

QR code size depends on scanning distance, data density, contrast, surface, lighting, and the camera or scanner. Smaller codes require closer scanning and precise marking. Share the intended workflow so the layout can be sized and tested before production.

Can asset tags include both a QR code and readable text?

Yes. A QR asset tag can pair the machine-readable code with an asset ID, serial number, company name, or other approved text. Human-readable identification provides a fallback when scanning is unavailable.
